2008-09 TUITION AND FEESBethlehem Lutheran School charges tuition and registration and other fees to cover the costs of your child's education. Full and prompt payment of these fees is essential to the vitality of the school and the educational process. REGISTRATION FEE - This fee covers textbook rental, workbooks, art supplies, student insurance, and other miscellaneous expenses. Registration fees for the 2008-2009 school year are as follows: Pre-School: $190.00 per student Kindergarten: $250.00 per student Grades 1 to 8: $335.00 per student An initial payment of half the registration fee for returning students is due by May 15. When returning families remit the initial payment by the deadline, there will be a $50 reduction in the second payment per applicable student due at the August Registration. New families may qualify for this credit by remitting an initial payment by July 15. Final payment of any outstanding balance of the registration fee is due by the first day of school. Registration fees not paid by the first day of school will be assessed a late fee of $10 per week. There are NO refunds after June 1st. Any money paid for registration fees after June 1st will be refunded up to 72 hours (three days) after receipt of money. After three days, no refund will be issued.
PARTICIPATION FEES – These fees cover the costs of specific materials and programs at the school. Fees for the 2007-2008 school year are as follows: Athletic Fee $75.00 per participating family Graduation Fees (8th grade) $50.00 per graduate VIP Fee (Kindergarten) $100.00 per family VIP Fee (1st-8th) $200.00 per family
SUPPLY FEES - These fees are passed on to students for materials or supplies purchased for their use. Bibles (Grades 3 - 8): $21.00 each Gym Uniform (Grades 5 - 8): $8.00 - shorts $6.00 - shirt Hymnals (Grades 1 - 8): $11.00 each Lock (Grades 5 - 8): $6.00 each Milk: Kindergarten (Mandatory): $45.00 Preschool - 4-year (Mandatory): $23.25 Preschool - 3-year (Mandatory $16.75 Recorder (Grades 3 – 8) see Mrs. Erjavec Timeline $24.00 *Fees for these items are subject to change when our supply on hand is depleted and we are required to re-order. Payment of these fees is due by the first day of school. If these fees are not paid in full by this time, the student will be denied entry to the school. TUITION - Tuition is charged to those students whose parents are not members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and to those members who are Non-Active Members. A reduced tuition of 50% is charged to Active Members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Monthly tuition, per student, for the 2007-2008 school year is as follows:
A 20% discount in tuition is given for each additional child within a registered family. A 5% discount will be taken off the full amount of tuition for anyone wishing to prepay their ENTIRE tuition at the time of registration in August. There are 10 tuition payments due by the 10th of each month, starting on August 10. If the 10th occurs on a weekend, the payment will be due the following Monday. Payments received after the 10th will be assessed a late fee of $10 per week. It is the policy of Bethlehem Lutheran School that all families are current with tuition and fees. Parents will sign a Family Financial Commitment form, available at registration. Bethlehem Lutheran School desires that all children have the opportunity to receive a Christian Education and does not wish to deny this opportunity to anyone. If an unexpected financial difficulty delays your payment, it is imperative that you speak with the headmaster (principal) immediately to arrange an alternate payment plan before your account becomes past due. Tuition payments past due more than two months will be reviewed by the Board of Education and the child(ren) may not be permitted to continue studies at Bethlehem. You will be contacted at this point by a member of the financial committee to discuss your delinquent account. Returned checks fees: The following fees will be assessed for all checks returned to us for lack of funds: First check – bank charge; second check – bank charge, plus $20.00. After the second check, personal checks will no longer be accepted for payment of any fees. All payments must be made by cash, ACH, money order, or certified check only. Fees must be paid by the last day of school. This includes, but is not limited to, tuition, extended care charges, participation fees, supply fees, hot lunch fees, and assessments for lost textbooks or damage to property. In the event that any unpaid balance remains, the school will not release report cards, transcripts or grant diplomas until all fees are paid. If any accounts are in arrears at the beginning of a new school year, the child cannot be re-enrolled until the previous year’s balance has been paid. VOLUNTEER INCENTIVE PROGRAM (VIP)– This program is designed to facilitate the involvement of parents, grandparents and the Bethlehem community in the school’s curriculum. Research indicates that parental involvement in a child’s school activities is the greatest predictor of academic success. Participation is not mandatory in the program. However, a $200 assessment fee ($100 for kindergarten families – preschool is exempt) due at registration will be waived for those families participating in the program. This program requires a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer work (10 for kindergarten families) by May 1, 2008. Volunteer hours will accrue at a rate of $10 per hour up to 20 hours (10 hours for kindergarten families). Any hours not worked by May 1 will be charged at $10 per hour and billed to your account Volunteer hours will be available during and after school hours. The hours will be tracked and approved by the VIP committee. Some suggestions for volunteer opportunities are: lunch room monitors, library chaperones, assisting the teachers by making copies etc., hot lunch preparation, walk-a-thon, and home game concession stands.
